Stephen 'Steve' Hefner is responsible for the strategic planning of construction across Camden's portfolio. He started with Camden in 1994 and has overseen Camden's construction of more than $4.1 billion in real estate transactions and more than 42,000 apartment units. Steve serves as President of Camden Builders Inc., which provides general contracting and construction management services to third-party clients with emphases in HUD and Tax Credit projects.
Before joining Camden, Steve began his career in multifamily with Worthing Southeast Builders as a construction manager. He then held similar roles with SAE Spaw Glass/Cahaba Residential and later served as construction manager for Gross Builders.
Steve is currently the Vice Chairman of the National Multifamily Council Construction Committee. He also serves on the Advisory Council for Texas State Technical College and is a Board Member for Scenic Houston, as well as a member of the Houston Building Council and Houston Apartment Association. Steve received his AAS in Building Construction from Texas State Technical Institute and is a licensed contractor in multiple states throughout the U.S
